koi
I remember last year during winter I spent alot of time fishing with live baits and fillets around middle harbour only to catch nothing. Should I bother ?
pomey_git
Im stuck on the banks to, and am slowly learning things out here. I'd say you have to work a bit harder in the winter and pick your targets more carefully. Last year bream and salmon were my focus and that seemed to pay off. The other benefits of the colder months...... No one else is daft enough to be out at your fave spot on a cold clear evening. So wrap up, take a flask of coffee with a drop of brandy in and enjoy the serenity.

benm
Hi mate is bellambi a land based spot, could you please describe what type of spot it is? Like rock ledge etc, sorry I'm just not familiar with that spot! There is a boat ramp there, a small jetty and a breakwater. Looking out to the ocean there is a bommie not too far out. You can see the waves breaking over it. Never fished there land based, usually on a kayak but not recently since there has been a great white making it his home. koi
Just last winter spent all my days off fishing for around 8 hrs with nothing. I thought that its winter and theres no little ones to pick off the fillets, Id have a better chance of catching the big ones. But no runs at all last winter. bream111
Absolutely you should fish in the winter. Some of the bread and butter species that you will catch are, bream, Luderick, snapper, tailor and many others. All of these fish can be caught land based. Try to specialise don't generalise that will increase your catch. Bream111
