REEF MAGIC CHARTERS
Anyone planning on getting out tomorrow? We will hopefully be out after some quick maintenance in the morning. With a few weeks in the pen & some major engine work we are planning to get out & have a look around & to cube till dark. Cheers Damo

REEF MAGIC CHARTERS
We went out around lunchtime into a fairly solid swell but no wind. Trolled from the 12 mile to browns then tracked further to the north east where we found a good temperature break on a current line & decided to cube the area. Plenty of what looked like small frigates feeding on some very small baitfish & the odd showing of sauries but we cubed till dark & didn't see a thing. Another charter boat worked the other side of the break for nothing either. Botany Bay had a point score day & there were a few boats out, we heard of 1 marlin lost & small mako caught & the guys dropping on the mountain didn't seem to be breaking any records either. Unfortunately at the moment it is very slow fishing but hopefully we will hear some better reports from down south over the next week or so & will keep you posted. fishy
Thanks for sharing the info. That eddy out real wide looked promising on the charts. What's happened to the YFT, they never really showed up last year either. Better luck next time.

Yeah your correct.. that eddy looks great but we just need the combination of currents & good water pressure to push in to create that perfect water for the yellowfin. It was there last year as well but never pushed close enough to be targeted by us but the longliners still found them. Keep an eye on it as if it keeps pushing in things could change very quickly. The massive moon probably didn't help things either. Cheers Damo
JohnnyiTuna.com
Damo, Thoughts on the the big SBT's turning up this year? That week last July was torture for those of us who couldn't make it out (me & Mangus37!) until a few weeks after...we'll be prioritising this year if & when they do. In a spankin' new Canyon Master... any advice appreciated. Cheers.

Still no major reports from down Narooma/Bermi of bluefin but had better reports yesterday of albacore & yellowfin to 20kg & plenty of boats will be out today. Last year the fish turned up here due to the southern current pushig right up hard against the warmer water from the north hence they stayed around for a few weeks. That water has just started to turn & we should see an increase in bluefin caught down the coast over the coming weeks then we just have to wait & see if it pushes all the way up here. I'm going to head to Narooma for the long weekend & see whats about. Good luck if you get out & let us know how you go.
