leonardgid
Hi there fishraiders, I came across this website that sells flotation tubes that can be attached to the sides of tinnies, for those that like to fish inshore on small aluminium boats, they claim that the victorian police have been using them on their tinnies for the last eight years, has anyone come across a boat owner that uses them ? they are not cheap under a thousand dollars for what they are, and they do not last for a very long time either ,
Catchin Jack
Try calling Huett Marine @ Cowan, he may be able to source these at a reasonable cost.
Fab1
Depends what value you put on your life,if I were game enough to take a small tinny outside I'd certainly prefer to have them then not. From what I've seen they add a lot of extra floatation.I spoke to a guy once fishing in the hacking and he said that he takes his tinny outside past the heads and it certainly helps with roll etc and felt safe knowing that if things turned turtle his boat would float. Cheers.
oz_brett
I just googled them, they look like a great idea! Shame they dont have them for larger boats and a self inflating set like the life jackets to be used when things turn ugly and your hours from land. abecedarian
They look like they'd do an ok job at adding buoyancy and stability at rest. To add stability at rest though they would need to be in the water. In that case when you get moving they look like they'd drag in the water when making a turn, which wouldn't be good for the handling of the boat I wouldn't think...
