MV Sunray
Hi all haven't been on for awhile been so busy at work also trying to get my boat licence so i can take my boat out any good places on central Coast to check out?? anyways back to the point going up to Port douglas in October will just miss the anuall Marlin Comp Anyone know of a good charter for reef or Light game while their also any spots on the rocks for some land base fishing upto a few hours North ?? Bays inlets etc Or if anyone has a boat up their and like a buddy for the day will pay my way LMK cheers all G'day Bud, There's plenty of coastline beaches and rocky headlands that all fish well on the run from Cairns up to Port. Just be carefull as there is a green zone along this stretch which is closed to fishing. There's no real hotspots as such. The water is generally shallow for some distance so best bet is to pic an incoming tide just before dusk when the predators search the shallows. We usually fish with half pillies and play the waiting game. Sometimes the action can be non stop. You can expect to catch species like barracuda, whalers, trevally, grunter, dart etc Best catch to date was a 1m barra on a half pillie off 4 mile beach in 3feet of water. You can also walk the beaches casting soft plastics on sunrise. Usually see the trevally and queenies busting up the jelly prawns. Lots of good charter operators out of Port.. Pm me for a list and your budget lol.. Cheers, Chris.
MV Sunray
Sorry mate they are reef sharks not whalers. My mistake lots of fun on light gear tho.. You will be surprised what's there. Seen a few shovel nose and blue salmon caught also but not by me
