Guest mike2153
Hi guys, So today I headed out with a fellow fishraider on the hunt for some Kingfish, we put the boat in the harbour and went straight out to grab some yakkas. Within 20 mins or so we had about 25 yakkas so with the tank full we headed out the heads to find some kings. Within about 15mins of hitting our spot i had my yakka on my 6-10kg Veratis with 20lb line straight to a circle hook just sitting on the surface we see a splash in the water, grab the rod then it buckles over. After an awsome fight we net my first kingie measuring in at 67cm. Caught another rat fairly quickly and he went straight back in the drink. So it looks like after my feed last night of Australian salmon i caught 2 weeks ago ill be eating fresh kingfish will chilli and lime. Ive been trying to net the 4 common pelagics for a while now, with only Tailor under my belt for a while ive managed to get a king, bonito and salmon all with a couple of weeks. Makes all the doughnuts worth it. Cheers guys, and thanks to Jase for all the help in getting the fish id still be stuck on Tailor it if wasn't for him haha. erroll
Well done there mate. nice way to start your kingy career. Fishing from a seafarer makes all the difference too!
PPSGT
I bet the Kingy tasted better than the salmon Just wish we had landed that beast we hooked - made the fight from the 92cm on Wed look like a rat, best hook up i've seen on my boat, but you could tell from the start it was probably going to end in tears...... Your first king, my first amberjack - just about to eat mine now Can't wait to see you hook a real king on the bait rod you were using

SargeRX8
That size is awesome on 8lb line 4kg rod and soft plastics. Thats how I took down my first king. It tasted good but I think the prize is in the fight. Good stuff man, and good to see it wasn't hard to get yakka. I find in winter the yakka are generally huge and not so easy to find as summer. Fishart
Well done mate !! First day on the site.... Was thinking of fishing Terrigal wide in the next few weeks. Was wondering If anyone knows approx how far it is from Terrigal ramp? Are there any decent winter snapper on out there? and is it worth jigging for Kingies wide of the reef. Very new to all this, just got my cruise craft 625, keen to get into some fish outside. Any help would be much aprreciated.. Cheers Fishart. Guest mike2153
On 8lb line would be awsome! I did hook a rat once on Jases boat with my 4lb line.... That didnt last very long and took half my spool with Jase laughing at me lol. I didnt think a reel could spin that fast haha
