frankp
My brother got an 18kg fin and that's it but still plenty of bust ups but no hook ups.
Overdraft
We go a small one only about 5kg. I know of a boat that got one around 40 kg We saw heaps of bust ups but they only lasted about 30 seconds each. Considering how many people were out I would of expected a few more reports. fishy
Seen hundreds of fish from small to absolute barrels busting up all morning, then went quiet and started busting up again in the arvo. Seen them busting up just off the shelf on the way home in 200fa as well. So they are widespread. Very frustrating day. Hooked 2 early and pulled the hooks on both. Very very very boat shy! REEF MAGIC CHARTERS
try getting away from the packs of boats & run your lures a long way back Cheers Damo
fishy
Damo, We were the first boat at the mark at 6.30am and had the whole area to ourselves for an hour or so. We were actually heading wider at 25kn when we spotted the birds and bust ups. Both our hook ups were prior to 7.30am. So yes we were away from the pack, well the pack arrived later anyway and they were still boat shy. I am thinking maybe get out early and move around at speed as the sun is coming up and look for the birds and just drift live baits, no burley. Similar theory to live baiting for long tails of the rocks! Just gotta hope they swim past and smash your bait

Plenty still about but everyone needs to approach bust ups on the edges & slowly. Yesterday was almost comical watching 30 boats speed into a bust up & wonder why no one could catch any. People were showing very little respect for guys cubing & just racing in & running through their trails. There are plenty of fish there not to ruin someone else's day! Hope you get back out.
