Stimo1076
Hi Guys, Im looking into buying a new bait caster and thought where better to ask than here for advice on tried and tested reels. I currently have a Team Diawa V103 HI, had it for 10 years and its time to replace it. I think sometimes the bait and tackle shop try to sell what they make the most money on.. Its mainly for Bass, Bream etc light lure casting. Any feed back would be appreciated looking to spend $200- $300 i know most reels at that price are pretty good but there might be some to stay away from also? rockfisherman
My curado has served me well, but if you dont want to spend that much get a shimano Caenan. No problems, works well and mine has even claimed a couple of medium sized bay kings. Harry "If its to good to be true... It usually is."
abecedarian
I like my curado although it probably wouldn't cast as light a weight as the top diawa reels. Still does ok though...

Hodgey
I don't have any feedback to provide for the Daiwa reel you mentioned but you might like to investigate the Abu Revo range. They will fall into budget and are great for bass, yellas, cod etc. I have had my SX for a couple of years now without issue and I am in the process of purchasing the new STX to go with it. They're cheaper than my chronarch but perform well above their pricetag. Good luck with your new purchase. Cheers Hodgey

slinkymalinky
Revo MGX is the one to check out for light work. I have one and love it (I have a Revo Inshore too). I was fishing with my MGX for Bass on the weekend, casting 1/8oz spinnerbaits and it does it with ease. If you want to be casting light weight lures with a baitcaster though, you'll need a good rod and don't expect anything like the distance you can get casting with a light spin outfit. Cheers, T
