sam bros Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 went to good old CG wharf yesterday after not fishing for a while armed with banana prawns and chicken plan was to catch lives and chuck them out on the big rods and try to catch bream/trevally on the smaller rods well all in all it was really quite with no taking on the livies, there was yellowtail about and pretty hard to catch compared to other days. managed a few undersized bream and squire to about 22 cm and caught this fellow, if anyone could ID this fish would be appreciated as i didn't know what it was cheers
t3zza Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Think it is a Silver sweep http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=62293
Scratchie Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Pretty sure it's a sweep! Thousands of em about ATM. They are in jacket proportions up here! Cheers scratchie!!!
Linc Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 yeah sweep for sure, caught a couple last week - not bad eating with nice white flesh when filleted.
Scratchie Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 yeah sweep for sure, caught a couple last week - not bad eating with nice white flesh when filleted. Do you eat sweep?
The Incredible Hull Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I tried sweep, not good eating, flesh is not solid flakes, its more mushy.
Yowie Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Have eaten the bigger ones caught from ocean rocks and they were quite edible.
quochuy Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Next time try tiny pieces of pilchard or minced beef on small long shank for yellowtails. Sabiki rigs tipped with that can also be effective. -- http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
