Frantic
mate the bar is treacherous even pros get turned over from time to time "seen it happen " that was coming back in .its channel is narrow like a 5mts across sometimes .just not really worth ,if ya had a small say 5 mt tinny you could beach launch from shelley otherwise for that trophy drive to swr then head back to nth to grassy or even further nth between nambucca and urunga , at one point @ low tide you could cast from end of wall over to uncovered sand on other beach .lots of sand build & it wont move really till we get another flood ,
Jewhunter
Agreed. Don't even try that bar Ray. Even the locals won't use it!! I reckon you will need to make the drive to SWR. Good luck make. Cheers, Grant.

brendong
Alternately a beach launch at Scotts Head is a good option too. Done it couple of times pretty safe and recon it's heaps easier than Shelley beach. The ramp is tucked up under the southern end of the beach. The life guards will even help to guide you in upon return to the beach if there is a crowd on the beach.
Marlin01
I have run to Nambucca a few times from SWR, not a bad run with plenty of ground to fish on the run either way. Lots of fantastic ground off Nambucca and north. We actually had one of our best days ever off Nambucca a couple of years ago with big reds, cobia, Sampson fish and Mackeral with a few other species thrown in the mix also. Stopped on a show we marked running home at 25knts and found a school of nice pearlies and reds. SWR bar is a far better proposition than Nambucca. raysenior
Sounds good guys, i will check it out soon before dragging the trophy that far !! cheers snr
Frantic
scotts is alright very soft swell into beach but the ramp is short and is usually a long long way off the water if not high tide you have to go a long way of beach sometimes to get into 2mts of water ,seen ppl out of boat walking it towards beach and there still 25 meters from ramp. hey marlin yr right plenty of really top spots for pearlies ,snapper, parrotfish, big kingies 15kg + monster sampson ,big spaniards was one 25kg plus caught about 150mt off shelley last xmas even shelleys danger for most 4wds seen a f150 up to runnin boards in soft sand ,thats why we had a tractor .some pros launch off there then come back in through bar .still SWR is a far better option. that trophy should have a exceptional size fuel tank ?.
