Kahawai On The Kaipara

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys up early for a drive over to the Kaipara harbour on the west coast for a fish off the beach. Set up just as the sun was coming up

One more of my tranquil view

Took about 45 min before I finally landed one. This is the first that I got which was really nice and fat and of pretty good size

And this is the last one that I got. It actually put up the hardest fight  but wasnt quite as big as the first one.

In all I caught 4 Kahawai / Salmon in my 3 and a half hours; so not frantic action but for August 18th I'm very happy :biggrin2:

Now at Uncles getting smoked :1clap:

Clutch, bit-by-bit you are converting me. New Zealand seems to be so pristine, unspoilt and full of fish.

There is a new TV show here called Coast Watch, which is mainly about New Zealand Fisheries officers doing what they do. Many of the shows are about people taking Parwa? I think that is how you spell it.

What sort of shellfish is it?

Got any good recipes for Kahawai (Australian Salmon), as they don't taste that great over here.

Cheers

Oh by the way phonetically you spelled it correct

however in Maori.........Paua :biggrin2:
