Big Uke
Hi Raiders, This is my first post - been following fishraider now for about 2 years & enjoyed all the write ups. Been a fisho for almost 40 years will lots of fish tails to tell. Decided yesterday morning that the weather & tides were good for a fish on the Georges. Drove past Macs Bait shop - picked up some fresh prawns & squid & headed to Como marina to pick up a tinny. On the river by 8.00am & cruised up to Bald Face Point - dropped all 3 rods with a combination of prawns, squid & pilly. Not much action so moved over & anchored to the Sylvania side of the river. Within 10 minutes - had a take on one rod with a prawn & up came the first 46 cm flatty. Within 30 minutes - another rod with a prawn goes off & up comes flatty #2 - 44 cm. So far, so good! Decided by mid morning to move back up river towards the mouth of Oyster Bay - dropped anchor - all rods loaded & in the water. Within 10 minutes - rod & reel go off - Zzzzzzzzzzz- takes about 20 metres of braid before I lock up the bait runner. A good fight for about 10 - 15 minutes & up comes a 36sm snapper - the pinky / red colour of this fish was just amazing. After this - the wind picked up from the NE & all fish went off the bit - pulled anchor & made back for the marina. All in all - a good day on the river - home by 1pm.
