col35
check your connections to your antenna , your coax cable and plugs at either end a vhf radio would have no problems transmitting a few hundred kms goodluck
Bentstik
Make sure its running on 25 watts not 1 watt, that will make a big difference out at Browns

Dfishin
I dont think you will get a few hundred km range. 27 mg not much good out at browns except for boat to boat though no one else will realy be on it. its ok if your out with a mate though. VHF 16 is safety channel for log in to VMR or emergency other than that you should be on 21 out there to hear whats happening around you. Although i have found channel 21 poor reception/range lately. Any further south go to 72. hope this helps Dave
