Kingy Kaos
Just got back from an arvo into the night fish and come up with nothing. Tried everything and everywhere. What's the secret in Dee Why?
Novicefisherman
Would have been rough on the rocks? 3-5 ft south swell yesterday??? Plenty of burley helps and fresh bait. Beach worms or fresh squid? For the beach.
Kingy Kaos
Yep it was! That why I headed to the beach. The gutter near the post had a tonne of weed washing through it. So I found a smaller one further south of the beach with no weed and no luck with the fish. Then fished where the sand meets the rocks at the pool end. And still nothing! quochuy
What were you targetting? With prawn, live nippers or live worms you should have caught some whitings. But if there was weeds, the swell might have been too strong? For whitings, if the gutter is not productive for whitings, try the back sand bank if yoy can reach it. Last time I was in Narrabeen beach and the gutters gave nothing so I used my 13ft rod to cast as far as I could to the back bank and got some hookups. If the usual does not work, try the unusual :-)
quochuy
Oh and also when I fish for whitings, if the current drags my bait I just let it go. If it stays in one place, I cast far and then regularly jig it back as if it was a lure, just less frequent and slower flicks
