elferoz777
Thought I would try one of my two 'ol faithful' spots today in the hops of getting a bite. I wasted the first 40 mins fishing an unproductive spot. I usually fish my line of reef in a low tide but today the ledge was completely under the water. I had no choice but to literally fish at my feet. As I caught the only fish that never lets me down (a freakin rock cale) I prepared to down tools and go home. I thought...one last cast with a smaller bit of cooked prawn...... The prawn was unweighted and it washed straight towards a ledge when BANG! Blackie number one was on. I could at this point see them in the water and placed the line accordingly..1.2.3...rod buckles and I am on to another. The next cast wen astray then all of a sudden a reasonable sized Wirrah cod slammed it. I cast into the wash one last time and the rod buckled hard.....I let him fight before slinging out another fish. I think some of these may be drummer but I am not sure. Most fish were released as they were a bit small. I had them in a rock pool for the sake of photos for my little fellah. Nice to know I now have a new blackfishing spot...I knew the drummer were their as I get busted off all the time. I wish I could say I used 4 pound line but I was actually rigged for the reef so I was a tad heavier at 13 pounds. Oddly one of the blackfish was caught on a squid and large bream hook. A great couple of hours out with the bro in law none the less and worth the five minute drive.
