chr42is
As no one has posted here,s my thoughts. I had a 15HP twin 2stroke Yamaha on a Dart I bought it 2nd. hand an ran it for years It never had a problem. 2 pulls from cold(first to fill C case) then first pull every time. Not sure about a 10 year old 4 stroke??

Not sure about a 10 year old 4 stroke?? i would keep the 4 stroke, in another 10 years if the engine is still running it's still going to be worth what u paid for it replacement value on your 4 stroke would be around $2800-$3500 for a new engine its depreciated in value already and u wont loose much if anything over the coming years in 10 years time that yamaha will depreciate in value and you'll get use from it but more than likely you'll loose money too
NEEDTOFISH
Thanks for your imput. I always thought that even when selling motors that the later models are better and everyone usually wants later models for reliability So if money didnt come into it, or was the same price would you still pick the 4 stroke, or is it that $1500 the going rate for the 2011 yamy?? cheers
Guest Aussie007
i'd still pick the 4 stroke, i remember seeing new 15hp yamahas for $2300 about 2-3 years ago so buying a second hand late model for $1500 isnt all that cheap i would either go the 4 stroke or save a little more and buy a new 15hp i bought a new 18hp tohatsu from a dealer for $2000 back in 2010
