Guest Sea Jay Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 I went out to the bay this morning at about 7 am and was out there till 1 ,It was a great day on the water but NO FISH. i came home with a empty bag, very very disapointing. I tried spots all over the bay(along side the runway, MiloneuxPoint and at the end of the runway etc) using Prawns, squid, Chicken gut, lures and berley( Bread, chicken pellets) and still had no luck. I threw everything i had at them Did anyone else fish there today and have any luck If anyones has any suggestions i am ALL EARS I am not a very experienced fisherman i think i need a raider with a bit of experience to come along with me and show me how its done??? Thanks, Hope you had a better time than i did.
Guest Jocool Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 I was out on North Harbour this morning and failed to generate any interest from the fish. Windy day and low barometer. 63105 Ditto for me, Mark and Iain!
go-fish Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 (edited) Ditto for me, Mark and Iain! 63111 And I... floated around the spit bridge and chinamans beach from 6am to 10am - no joy at all. My rookie deckie caught a small tailor and showed me up ;( He also got a follow on a prawn from an unidentified nice sized fish (maybe 50cm) - once - but no bite. Edited August 21, 2005 by go-fish
vipernut Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Sounds like a tuff day alround, atleast you got out on the water.Im starting to forget what it looks like.
chemfish Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 looks like i made the right decision to stay home this weekend. i think i'll spend the next couple of weekends on boat maintenance....
Kingy Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I did a bit better than last weekend (no fish in a day and a half of fishing) on Pittwater etc. Sunday, got a nice tailor on the troll up Pittwater with my bibbed minnows and then 3 nice Trev's on squid from North of Lion Island. Nice day out there and some fish hanging around Lion Island in the lee of the wind. A few other throw back reef ooglies and boat next to us got a few Port Jacksons. Nice day all up!! Cooked up nicely for Sunday lunch mmm mmmmmmm.
robthefisherman Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Ditto for me Took the daughter for a along the Georges at picnic point she normally gets to have a bit of fun there with the little bream Not this weekend not even a bite Fished from about 6.45 to 10.30 for zip. I didn't check the tides but it must have been a big one the water was moving through very quickly
Cid Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Hi Sea Jay, I don't have a boat but do a lot of spinning from the shore for flatties. It's been very quiet the last few months but the water is starting to warm up again so good times are just around the corner! I picked up a 64cm flattie last friday and then got a 51cm flattie on sunday. Both caught on lures (one on a Pygmy 2 (Black/Gold), the other on a squidgy fish (silverfox/hottail). Both were caught at Dolls Point. As you have a boat, try the patchy area around Towra Point for flatties. The water only needs to be between 1 meter to 2 meters deep. Fish the sand patches between the weeds using a double flick- pause retreive. Any of the shad or minnow SP's about 100mm long will work. Gold and silver colours have worked best for me. Good luck, Cid
