gdmacs
Took one of my two boys with me to my local beach to catch a few worms on Saturday afternoon, felt a bit like a freak show as so many people were amazed at what I was pulling out of the sand. Ended up with about 20 and five would have been 1m long and pretty solid. Kept them overnight in a bucket of sand then took 3 boys out from Pretty beach, tried our luck under the Rip bridge for 30min but only got a few little snapper and the current was going pretty hard so I moved us up near the oyster leases and that is where we caught these nice whiting 42cm, 38cm & 27cm and of course some more under sized snapper. Finished the morning off with a swim at Lobster beach and a spin out to the heads with a lot of screaming when we got a bit of air over some little waves. Cheers Don't know about up that way, but about 4 years ago I was with a mate at Bronte and he caught 2 whiting at night the likes of which I have not seen before or since. People reading your post will think 60 cm is impossible but these 2, although we didn't measure them, were way way beyond the 40 cm mark - in the dark we thought the first one was a school jew. This was told to me by someone that owns a business right along Narara creek. I wish it was still like that now =(

This was told to me by someone that owns a business right along Narara creek. I wish it was still like that now =( My dad would catch them on handline back in the days and was very successful. Actually got addicted to catching and all he used back then was a frozen prawns and a long shank which caught everything. I just did a quick google and seem people reports biggest around 40cms. I now wish we took photos and measurements as proof... He caught heaps and they were monsters and 60cms is no exaggeration. One day i will try for them again but the waterways are not like they were. (sound like a 90 yo man) but it's true. Tight lines
TRIER
Very nice fish, I fished off Balmoral wharf about 2 weeks back and caught 2 whiting at 47cm & 37cm using Tube Worms. I mostly target whiting but have found the last couple of years the big schools haven't been around. You get a few here and there but not in any quantities. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me? Good fishing All
