Dave_
G'day again Raiders, A question for anyone who has used the Megabass Pagani Siglett for bass and your opinions on the hook up rate. In my experience the hook up rate is only about 30%. I reckon for every 10 hits I only hook 3 fish with the single treble set up it comes standard with. Compared to the Tiemco SSC which has 2 trebles, the hook up rate is woeful especially for a $35 lure. What I'd like to know is has anyone tried using a set of those zx style stinger hooks as a replacement for the treble or even as an addition to the treble and has this improved your success?. I have a set of these zx style hooks but I'm not sure how they affect lure buoyancy/action and I also don't really want to hook the fish in the eyes if possible. I'm getting a heap of good bass but I'm missing out on alot more. Cheers, Dave
arpie
Hi Dave Lots of my yakking mates have made the same observation about the pagani siglet as you have. They have either put a treble onto it or the stinger hooks & the hookup rate improved. Glad to hear you are getting in to some good bass! I think we need more rain up here to get my spot 'firing' again, as it has almost stopped flowing!! cheers Roberta
LeoB
G'day I've upgraded my hooks from trebles to inline singles (the eyes parallel to the hook) on all my lures and have definitely had an increased hookup rate. But the biggest plus is hook removal from undersized or fish I intend to release. Cheers Leo
Dave_
Thanks heaps for the replies. Im glad it's not just me having that issue with the Sigletts. I will attach the stingers and see how I go. Cheers.
Dave_
Just a quick update on the hook up rate on the Sigletts since changing from the single treble to the 2 stingers for those who may be interested. I decided to judge their performance by giving the lure a chance to get hit 10 times with the stingers attached after doing the same while the treble was on. The result? Sadly, 0 % hook up with the stingers and 30 % with the single treble. I have been told by a lot of people that the stingers have improved the effectiveness of the Sigletts greatly but not for me. I don't know if I'm just having bad luck or what it is but I do know that these lures are near the top of the tree of a select few lures that are proven to get more strikes than others. Hmm....
