rockfisherman
Hi raiders After receiving a 2am text message from my mate saying he had been pissing up all night and won't be coming fishing I decided to still go out, after all the boat hooked up ready to go and I had bait defrosting. I bought myself a couple kayak ugly stiks which I wanted to test out, one being a 4-8kg 1.35m long and the other being 1-3kg and the same length I was happy to christen the heavier stick with a rat king, very happy with the way it felt Apart from the rat king, a legal trevally and 200 baby snapper there wasn't much doing and still isn't. rockfisherman
I'd like to amend my report. Shortly after finishing this report because there was jack all happening, the fish came on hard and fast. After releasing 2 rats and hooked onto a 3rd fish, all I could say to myself was: "Please be legal" "Please be legal" "Please be legal" Ask and you shall receive 1 legal king. VViCKiD
Wow I didn't realise u can catch kings there! I was there this morning. Couldn't catch anything besides yakkas. So I tired long bay. Then hit up the fads with the yakkas. Still no luck. So tried the heads of cronalla. Came home with a fat Zero fish ! Glad someone else had better luck. Jew Stalker
Gotta love Kingy sushimi. It is personally one of my favourites along with flathead. Well done on getting out and having a go. You at least were rewarded for your efforts with a tasty lunch. Luc.

Linc
Finally the rats of botany might be growing up a little. I hope they start to be consistently of that size and up, it's a little disheartening when you fight a fish for 5-10 mins on the light gear only to find its undersized, well done mate. I'm in a bit of a similar situation for this sunday, planning to head out with a mate since 2 weeks ago now he can't make up his darn mind... Put him on the back burner for a while, give him a bit if thinking time. You're not wrong about it being dis-heartening. What's even more dis-heartening was seeing blokes keeping the little fellas. Yes, Hopefully the presence of these rats is an indicator, that action in the bay is reviving. My plan is to get out there during winter. Harry If it's to good to be true, it usually is... Definitely a lot of people keeping rats out there, each time they've been really firing you see at least 1 or two boats doing it, Not only are they bad for our fish stocks but I reckon they're crazy, I've been checked by water police twice in the last 6 trips to the bay. At their own peril... People soon change after realising The cost outweighs the benefits of keeping rats. Harry If it's to good to be true, it usually is...
