REBSS
Hi All, I have a Johnson 115 and find if I don't run the motor every couple of weeks the fuel evaporates in the carbies and clogs them up with the leftover oil. As with all 2stoke motors, lawn mowers motorbikes etc etc I shut the fuel off and let the carbies drain of fuel to stop this happening. I am thinking of putting a cut off valve in the fuel line to do this on my motor. Does anybody else have this problem ? or perhaps suggestions ? cheers
Geoff
Suggest you use the "search" function or scroll through the Boat section as the question has been covered on a number of occasions previously. As to your comment of needing to run the motor every few weeks. I think you have another problem other than fuel evaperation. I have a 70hp oil injected 2s Yammie. On the occusions when the boat is not used for several months (3-4)I hook on the rabbit ears & give the motor a run. Never had any problem with starting or oil residure in the carbys. Juggs
are you using premix? or the vro or oms still installed?
pjbink
If the motor is oil injected you could end up flooding the carbies with oil as the fuel runs out. There is also a theory that letting the engine run out of fuel can accelerate engine wear (this is plausible in the case of multi - carby engines). I'd just switch the motor off and make sure you give it a run every six weeks or use a fuel preserver.
