Whale Song

Some years ago I bought some CD's of the most hauntingly beautiful whale songs. makes you realise just how awesome these huge creatures really are.

Thinking about the songs I wondered what would happen if I played the CD's whilst outside during the whale season. Would it attract the whales, or cause them to see my boat as a potential mate?

Anyway, an interesting thought, anyone have any experience of this?

I have experienced this once before but not playing CD's... I was out on the snapper grounds in Merimbula and noticed a small pod of whales coming straight at the boat I was on. We satyed still as we didn't want to interrupt their sonar by running the engine and they swam straight underneath us. We were hoping that they didn't try to surface directly under us (which they didn't) but as they were under us in the tinny we could hear their whale song which was amplified by the hull of the boat and it was simply amazing. It was an experience I will never forget.

I know what you mean, I was out wide deckying on a mate's big game boat when several Killer Whales swam right up and alongside the boat. An awesome sight that I will never forget.
