Witha
G'day raiders, Found the pics from a trip the girlfriend and I took down to Wattamolla on Val day, was an awesome day such a beautiful place! Gorgeous sheltered bay with rocks to the side of the beach where you can setup shop and easily cast out no need for surf or rock gear it's that calm and easy. Decided to swap from my usual soft plastics to bait for the day, as the girlfriend wanted to learn and soaking a prawn would be the first step! Set up two outfits running ball to swivel on 10lb braid and leader with aussie banana prawns from woolies. The girlfriend managed an old boot and she was absolutely beaming! (Pressure is off...got her a fish.) She lost interest as the tide went slack on the low and found this colony of morays! These things look stunning, and shes pretty good with her underwater camera! After a bit of a lul got a huge smack on my prawn and powerful head shakes so figured it for a flatty, turned out to be a beautiful 50ish tiger! (Sandy/orange patterning and blue tail?) Really healthy looking fish which went back to the depths after the snaps Pulled this healthy bream the week before from the same spot (me actually catching something whilst she was there made the gf finally think fishings not so bad!) Another few throwback juvenile flatties and we called it a day. Gotta love converting the misus to the sport! Now can combine quality time and fishing! Win! Was an awesome day out and the first day off work in weeks. Thanks for reading guys! Cheers Witha Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Paikea
Hi With a What a good read and pics, particularly the eels. A bit confused re your reference to the Girlfriend and the Missus. That's living dangerously isn't? What camera was used for the underwater shots? Cheers Paikea
Paikea
Forgot to mention. Back in my spearfishing days we found a lot of anchors among the bottom boulders including a big forged anchor that weighed at least 40 Kg. Apparently a big yacht had moored in the little bay and got the anchor jammed. We ended up retrieving it and selling it to a marina. Good deal when you are 17 Year old or so. Anyway, fishos be warned, do not anchor over the big white boulders at Wattamolla unless you want to go for a swim to retrieve your anchor and chain. And finally, yes it is a beautiful place. Girlfriend as of yet, and the only one I'll ask her about the camera, neat little piece of kit I'm gonna borrow it for my yak adventures Woah thats a big find on the anchor. Bloke must have been spewing! Learn from that mistake I hope! Cheers Witha Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Berleyguts
Good read and pics. Wattomolla is a nice spot. I reckon that flathead is a dusky, though. The blue tail is a giveaway. Cheers, Baz
Witha
Righto might have been dusky then, just saw the fully blue tail with no real spot and though it might be different love any flathead! Paikea
I cannot get Mrs Paikea to fish outside with me but every time that we fish the river or the lake (she likes prawns for bait) she kills me. Did the same in Broome when she caught a huge Queenie and a shark. She does not read my posts so I am save in admitting that she catches more that I do.
