frankp
I'm thinking about doing an overnighter this Saturday and was curious on thoughts of fishing for jewfish offshore at night Without wanting to know exact spots I wanted to see the thoughts on best baits, tides changes, depths, berley etc and how to fish properly offshore at night. Also can you get snapper at night offshore? Regard Frank
Jew Stalker
Best baits for jews are either mullet slabs or whole squid both on double hook rigs. Best fished at the turn of the tides. Snapper most definitely can be targeted at night also, that is when they do most of their feeding on the reefs but I have had my best luck on plastics with snapper. I caught 5 the other day fishing a reef from just before first light until about 9 or 10am. The best burleys are probably fish bits and chunks of squid mixed with soaked bread and tuna oil. That will definitely get them in the mood to feed. Good luck. Luc.
