tommyrout97
Hi friends I always find myself fishing in various locations and seeing large sea and bully mullet swim past, but refuse to eat anything i put in the water when i see them. Nothing. Does anyone have any tips on catching these fish because they are monsters and look like nice small sportfish that would be fun on light gear. I have caught a few nice ones up to 2kg in some areas (rarely) but no technique seems to work consistantly, besides these mullet seem to be a different species. If anyone has any tips or consistently working techniques could you please let me know? Thankyou
adamski
Actually I've had a similar experience at Iron Cove and (to a lesser extent) Roseville estuary. I always see large shoals swimming by with similar sized fish (some pushing 1-2 kg). They refuse to take bread, flour paste mixed with fish oils/tuna/cat food, fish flesh etc. I've tried with a float about 1.5-2m down because I know they're typically bottom feeders. I don't know if it's a timing thing/moon phase thing? I haven't tried prawns yet at Iron Cove either, might give it a shot at some point this week.
