Soothing the pain: new bream toys

G'day raiders, so in light of losing my favorite breaming setup (1000 sienna and 1-3 starlo stix) I've now got the opportunity to save and get something truly classy.

Now I loved the setup, the rod was brilliant, really responsive but tough enough to steer anything. So, after some thought, going to stick woth the 1000 size I think, I've got a 2500 and for the finesse the 1000 just sits perfect. And I've stopped plenty of flatties etc on it too. The stradic has always called to me...the question is the fj or the ci4? Is the ci4 worth the extra dough? Other options are always worth a look if someone has a good alternative.

The other question is the rod. Which I have more trouble with as there is just so much variation. Price wise, not really fussed as this will be a saving excercise. But I think 150-300 (top end probably) is about where I'm at. Light sps, hbs blades etc, and maybe throwing a prawn around. Now I love the 1-3 bracket, as the feel and precision is great. But had Trout Stalker suggest a 2-4kg t-curve (there are a few t curves so don't know which one) I like the 2-4 range as if I was pontooning or around heavy structure you can drag em out easoer. But I guess you lose a bit of flick ability and sensitivity (maybe two rods :P) stradic comes woth two spools so was thinking one of 4lb amd the other of 6 or so for heavier structure.

With actions of rods I'm a novice, but the starlo was fairly stiff in the tip, not wobbly really. And I liked it, but you get more distance etc on light lures with a whippier tip (is that what they define as fast action? )

Ok so thats my spiel, any ideas would be awesome, or even reviews of stuff you've had.

Thanks guys!

Cheers

Also have a look at the daiwa gear aswell. The generation blacks are really good rods and they quite cheap aswell at around $150 and for the reel you can get the daiwa sol ll for around $290 aswell. For shimano I would go the sustain then the stradics and for rod have a look at the lox rods aswell great rod for the money. Happy shopping

Cheers Ethan

So gen black is well up there, itchy twitchy I think. Other option would be the 1-3kg tcurve revolution inshore, and looked at the raider soft plastic rods. Any info on these? I like the cork grips, great bite transmission. Do the high quality eva grips do the same?

A cheaper alternative is the new technium which has 5kg drag, or the more expensive SustainFG which also has 5kg drag, compared to 3kg. Though I like the Sustain.

Yeah was looking at those too, but correct me if I'm wrong, using 4-6lb line you wouldn't need much more than 3kg drag to lock it up?

no need for 5kg drag he will prob be running 6lb which will pop way under the 5 kg make its all just another good sales technique
