Jethro
I heard a rumour from 2 different people over the weekend that a couple of Pros caught a 1.5m Great White in their nets last week in (of all places) Tuggerah Lakes The story goes that the pros had been bringing their nets in a few times with huge holes in them and they couldn't work out why. Then last week they caught the small white. I was a bit sceptical when the first person told me then I heard it from a second. I thought it was probably a bull shark or even a bronzie but a white ....... no way. The second person that told me said that she can get photos from a freind at work so I guess we will just have to wait and see... Has anyone heard anything??? If it was a white I cant see it doing the local tourisim trade any good if it makes the papers. Might be time to break out the heavy gear Edited September 23, 2005 by Jethro
kevvie
your joking.. I find it hard to believe that jewies are in there let alone a Great White. I has to be a rumor or mistaken identification.. Looking forward to hearing one way or the other
Jethro
Have to agree Kevvie. The Pros pull a few Jew out of the lake every year, my best mate has seen a couple come in. But a white.......... I find it very hard to believe... stranger things have happened though. Just have to wait to see if the photos come through. kevvie
I heard old stories about people catching jew from the bridge at the entrance but i never thought the channel would be deep enough for them to come in now. Just goes to show that the puzzle is far from being complete in my mind. Do you reckon these are resident fish or merely chasing food and would leave the lake at some point? From what I understand they only get a handful every year and they are never very big say 2-4kg. They may just come in when they are small to fatten up before they go to face the big wide ocean

djmac
the lake can sometimes hold quite a bit of bait which could bring them in. it obviously found that it could get an easy feed off the nets and probbaly stuck around the area. reminds me of jaws

Guest Jocool
I gotta say, that a story like that appearing in the Daily Telegraph would have really suprised me. But with all the hype that Jethro has given it over the last 2 weeks, it spoiled it for me! Thanks mate!
Jethro
Thats what I love about this place.... You can offer an opinion with some idiot trying to ram his opinion down your throat. But I must admit it is fun to stir my old mate Troy up
