poohbear
Hi All Went out this morning with Howsy my Mentor Freezing North Western breeze had my nose, ears and other peripheral parts somewhat numb in a few minutes. Berleyed up and landed a few but dropped a few as well Howsy was the chief fisher and I just accompanied with a couple All released - till the next down Thanks Howsy Cheers Poohbear " Fishing is only and addiction if you are trying to give it up "

poohbear
Interestingly they were active in spells - usually related to a ferry docking Howsy thinks that the ferry churns up the bottom and acts like a berley fan. Im a starting to believe he is on to something. Another explanation would be that the Blackfish are keen to catch a ferry ride but maybe thats a bit far fetched. Cheers Edited June 9, 2014 by poohbear

jimbo61
Just on that topic of ferry's churning up the water. My mate and I hit Balmain area a couple of days ago during the ferry strike. We had no problems getting downs as well as pulling a few fish out. Interestingly the water was quite clear (due to no ferry's I guess) and I did not think we would get any as at some spots you could actually see the blackfish grazing around sea weed beds. When they're on they're on. Cheers

Just from my experience in the harbour, and some wharves are worse for this than others. Matt
poohbear
Yep Was at the same spot on Sunday and got 3 and dropped 1. All 3 caught within a few minutes of a ferry leaving. Hard to believe but there you go. Poohbear

Poohbear I don't think it's hard to believe the ferrys cause turbulence which means cabbage etc growing on the wharf gets washed around, also small invertebrates get dislodged and the fish actively feed, seems pretty logical to me.
