First Blackfish

I was lucky enough to head out with Hawkesbass this morning for a fish/ tutorial.

We met up around Chiswick, in a little spot out of the howling westerly.

With my limited gear and zero knowledge, he soon got me sorted and it wasn't long before my first down,

And first miss.

Hawkesbass was on to a solid fish shortly after, but lost it on a stick. Then he was on again only to bust off on the lift

A few more misses, a few pulled hooks before I pulled up tight to my first.

Played him out, made the lift and safely deposited him in the keeper net.

1 nil, Haha.

Not to be outdone,Trevor was on again to a nice one, played him out and gently lifted him ashore.

The wind was causing a few problems, so we called it just after high

Mine is the small one.

We visited a couple of other spots for the runout but the wind or crowd made it tough.

Although we only got a couple, in difficult conditions, I was stoked with my first.

I learned a lot, and really appreciate Trevor's help and generosity, for me that's what Fishraider is about.

I went out this morning and it was horrendous

Bitterly cold and float being blown horizontal

Well done - 2 fish in these conditions is probably 6 under ideal conditions.

Well done guys, I to have caught my first blackfish few days ago, 31cm it was. Already wanting more.

High tide in the afternoon, I've got the morning to search for weed.

I released my first blackie. Was shift working weird hours and stayed at a hotel so decided to catch and release. Good luck for Saturday, you should get some of those weed fly for when you can't find real stuff. I read it worked pretty well with burley, will be testing too
