subynick
WELL, paggles picked me up from the airport at 12.30, we arrived at maianbar bout 1.30pm, pumped nippers for a good hour (i kept saying we have enough but paggles insisted we would be catching whiting one after the other ). Grabbed the rods and did the walk! got to the spot to realise i didnt have enough batteries for my new radio, (melg v geelong elimination final) luckily there were people in a boat drinking only metres from the edge and they were kind enough to throw me a battery. With the footy going i was ready to catch some fish!!!! Threw in my first nipper to get some small bites... things were looking good well after 3hrs we had caught a big stingray a small whiting and a flatties the size of a small hand (it was tiny). Our original plan was to stay there till low tide as we would only have to wade through ankle deep water, but deciding to leave early meant wading through waist deep water!!! i thought id be ok with this until i saw how far it was!!! (paggles was fine with it but not me) next plan was to make the long walk to the foot bridge, well WHAT FOOTBRIDGE!! we spent around 1 1/2 hours looking for it with one shitty light. In the end i gave in and waded through 50mtrs of waist deep water in the rain!! only to get to the otherside where paggles couldnt find the track out of the water with my shark bells ringing i was gettin worried but after 15mins in the water he finaly found the track What a day no fish, soaking wet jeans, and no beer we finaly got back to the car and called it a day!!!! Guest madsmc
now now nick, don't be like that mate. It's a character building experience, as my high school commerce teacher used to say. I've been on a few trips like that. Rain, wind, cold, the bight has shut down, and the bastard who only came along to keep us company has drunk all our beer. You'll look back on that in future and smile, even though it was a pain in the a%#e at the time. madsmc
