Krispy !
Headed to the gardens of clifton this morning to kill abit of time. Got some servo pillies as it was an unplanned session. Verrry slow going, was burleying hard but all that same up were yakkas. Put one out live and it got smashed but hooks didnt connect as it was pinned in the nose. After more burleying and getting baits stolen by small snapper and yakkas I decided to go down to 2lb to see if that would change anything. Got a legal bream around 28 cm within the first few casts. The very bext cast got done by a trev which made quick work of the 2lb. About half an hour later I hooked something much better. The little reel was screaming, this fish then took to the air so I calmed down a little knowing it was a salmon and not a king. Still no easy task on 2lb but I had a decent chance if I stayed connected. For about 15 mins it was a war, the salmon would come up for a net shot then take off again. Eventually landed it and it went 57cm. Gave it to a lady fishing there as i dont rate salmon that much on the table. Nothing else after than and left by 10. nutsaboutfishing
Well done on 2lb. Bet your heart was in your mouth for most of the fight. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of rig do you use at Clifton Garden? Unweighted?
andysinmexico
Nice one mate, not a king but it still gets the blood pumping on hook up

eastwood1980
Mate seriously your a pro I once hooked a salmon and I got done, had no chance at all, just kept running....... I was using 2lb as well...... Takes a lot of skills....... That was last week.... My heart was pumping so hard it wasn't funny..... After I lost it...... I was swearing my head off....... Pretty sure even now you can tell how frustrated I am lol Usually I never post on fishing report but I know how you felt when you got that on a 2lb Edited November 17, 2014 by eastwood1980
Krispy !
Mate was such a relief when it went into the net, basically when it wanted to run I just let it run with as small amount of pressure as possible, the rod would have been almost horizontal. Sydneyfisher12
Great work on 2lb I have to give that a try. There have been plenty of salmon around at the moment and they were busting up right near Clifton on Saturday so their around that area Cheers sydneyfisher12

Yowie
Good work Krispy, they certainly fight on the light gear. My best effort is a just over 4 pound salmon (weighed but not measured) on a 4 pound handline and a little yellowtail hook (while fishing for yellowtail) off a wharf. They really are amazing sports fish in their own right especially on light tackle Edited November 18, 2014 by Krispy !
