finin
Gday all again, well even better morning than yesterday although seeing the full moon didnt help the prospects either. Quite a few boats out and about this morning and a few yachts headed up harbour after what seemed they spent the night at sea preparing for the hobart. Got to the gates and headed out. Ne swell had picked up easy by .5m since yesterday and was a little shorter in period as well. The first of the big currents has hit running downhill beteeen 1.5-2kn. Water temps also at 22.0. Fishing today was extremely hard thanks to current and wind joining forces. It was basically drop down let out two runs and wind up. Heaps of great shows and bait everywhere hiding under the boat, slimies from 50mm to 350mm. Plenty of flying fish and dolphins about not much bird life except for the mutton birds following the dolphins and flying fish. Absolute zeros for the first couple of hours and my arms were killing me from winding up every five minutes, although the results were worth it except we stumbled across the flatties and no pigs today. Heres some of todays effort after a 20 min run more snapper came up after pi was taken but all same size
cogo44
We found the current so strong up at Long Reef that holding bottom was very problematic. The fish were around but they had to be quick to get our baits. Flatties and morwong were predominant.
Linc
A tasty feed you have there. The swell and wind have not been too friendly lately, especially for me and my 4.3m tinny... Dying to get back outside the harbour. What's the clip thing in the gurnard, or is it just something sitting under him? I'm told they are excellent eating but can't bring myself to kill one with those amazing fins - are they as nice as people say? Might have to try one if they are. finin
Linc, its just a shark clip and a bit of wire just use it to string fish. Yes m8 gurnard is a nice feed we get 2 types here both denoted by the colour of the wing. Yes the wings are pretty cool. In tassie they throw back the flatties and keep the gurnard.
