stevefish
G'day everyone. Friday in Cowan, After little success chasing kings in pitty, on the way back through Cowan creek we hit a couple of shallow bays with the surface lures. First shot we got bumped a couple of times without hooking up, I think small bream and tailor. Then changed lures and shifted location to a nice cove with a mix of shallow sand and weed. After a few casts and 35 years of fishing I caught the first whiting I have targeted. A bit under and sent back, a few minutes later and a smaller one. Another few minutes and we hook up one at 33cm. A short time later I watched a wedge come out of the bottom and run a good 12 feet to hit the surface walker, hooked into a decent flattie I got control then reality set in and I thought "$&@# what is the leader " 6 pound so the drag went right down, just as the fish went in the net the leader let go! night_rider
Using the 33cm whiting as a guide and girth of the flatty, it looks to be a great size! Awesome that you got to see the strike too! Nice work Steve.
