iamthecowgodmoo
With some nice weather around, I thought I would try a new spot since one of my usual spots was taken and there were swimmers in the area. Tried my new Zerek prawn imitations to no avail. Tried a few other lures including soft plastics, still no luck. Switched to live worms and just had little pickers. Plenty around, just nothing of any size. There was potential, but with loads of toadies around, I decided to pack up and move spots. Was odd that my back-up spot was the only one free in the area, but conditions were good, so hung around. Had a good bag of live worms and proceeded to put one in (well, around half of one) and straight away, a bream just under legal, so back it went. Started to look better with some half-decent whiting and bream in short succession. Changed tactics for a bit, and threw out half a salted pillie in hope for a flattie. Brought in a bream just under 28cm. Tried casting into a small hole and immediately got smoked by something decent before throwing the hook. I was using 4lb braid with alb fluro leader, so it didn't need to be too big to do it! Cast into another hole and got smashed again. This time, it didn't come off. After a few good runs and a decent fight I pulled in a 33cm whiting. New PB! Heading out again tonight to try and find something bigger down the Spit. Tight Lines, Scott. Re the live worms what type were they? Beach or Blood Worms? Cheers Paikea
