thefisherman6784
Hey raiders Heading up to byron bay way from the 3rd of jan till the 13th First 5 night, were staying at a resort on the beach in Kingscliff and there's not much to do there apart from hang in the pool or watch the cricket so I was thinking of doing a bit of beach fishing at the beach Can you fish there and if so, what can I target/catch Then the next 5 nights heading up to byron bay it's self (staying right near main beach) and don't know of much fishing around there because it's a very popular beach with lots of people in the water so is there any bay, river, lake, etc, etc I can fish for a feed or just for fun for some bread and butter species. Any advice/help would be much appreciated and Merry Christmas to everyone! Cheers Gianni Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Paikea
The beach at Lennox Head just South of Byron is good, also accessible by 4WD via a track next to Lake Ainsworth but you need to get a Permit. Well worth it. Fish North of Lake Ainsworth to get away from the crowds. A local guide there showed me how to cast out and then draw the bait in super slow. Just moving is all. The Dart jump all over and are great fun. Also good Whiting and I have seen some good Flathead caught there. And watch for the Sea Eagles that perch on a tree midway along the beach. If you hold a Pillie up and emit a shrill whistle they will come and have a look. Throw the Pillie on the beach and they will swoop down and pick it up. I am going to use my Go-Pro to capture that scene next time that I go up there. Good Luck Cheers Paikea
