Yowie
Was not going fishing this week (because too many boats and water skiers about), but decided to have a go anyway (yes, a lot of boats about) so headed to North West Arm to get away from the boats. A couple of just undersized tailor, and a couple of bite-offs from them, and one good run from a reddie that did not hook up, and that was it. Thought I would be heading home with nothing when I pulled up anchor about 7am, and headed along Deer Park shoreline where I saw a couple of fish splashing about. Threw a lure around for a little while for no hits, about to leave and the tailor turned up. Pulled out 7 tailor, and dropped about the same number when the hook came free. By 8am, the action was over, about half an hour of solid action. The best was 41cm and a solid 700 grams, most around 500 grams. Enough for a couple of feeds, and a few fillets to be salted for bait. They were feeding on anchovies, so I used a 15 gram metal pillie design (around 5 or 6 dollars). The treble hook is rather small which is probably why some dropped off. Retrieve at a fairly rapid but irregular pace, slowing slightly then increasing speed again for a few seconds, to give the action of a wounded baitfish. When the fish stopped feeding on the surface, or a dickhead in a boat cruised over the top of the school, I let the lure sink to the bottom and found the fish down deep until they swam back to the surface again. Paikea
Planning to go out tomorrow so drove around to the various ramps in the Shire and could not believe the numbers of boat trailers. Yowie Bay ramp had trailers parked as far away as Kiora Road, Water Street Ramp had Trailers all the way to Gannons Road, Gunnamatta Bay ramp had trailers up to the station. Obviously Port Hacking will be a waste of time tomorrow. So checked Botany Bay and found one ramp that had spare trailer parking so that is where we will head in the morning. If the sea is kind we will likely have a drift or two for Flathead first and then maybe try the Peak, Hargreaves or the Plonk Holes. When we get back we may troll for Kingies past the Drums and fish the Cockle Beds to see if there are any Bream about. Hopefully we will score somewhere. Won't be for the want of trying. As I write this it has suddenly started pouring rain, thunder and lightning. That may keep the punters away from Port hacking tomorrow in which case we may try for Flathead outside Jibbon Bommie and then have a run down to Marley and the Humps. Our luck has to change soon. Cheers Paikea

bloodycars
Went down to kurnell on Sunday for a fish off the point just around from the boat ramp. There wasn't a whole lost of boat trailers around there until late in the arvo. We did ok caught a few brim.

Thanks Yowie, seems like inside the Bay or tucked up in the Port (if I can get a trailer parking spot) will be the go. Cheers Paikea
