justonemorecast
Went to north head this morning off bluefish. Heaps of kings plus a remora. Are they edible? How do I post a photo. I have a S5.
joshGTV
My parents told me they once caught a remora that had been hanging around their boat. When they gutted it they realised what it had been feeding on. Perhaps unsurprisingly it wasn't kept for dinner. Apparently very closely related to kings but their diet makes them less desirable. justonemorecast
Kings were all rats up to 64cm. I was catching them on pillies then switched to 6" white stick baits. Just cast them out and put it in the rod holder...they hooked themselves. There was alot of bait in the water. Little 3" pillies and lots of flying fish.Any ideas how to upload my photo? The remora went 79cm
NaClH2OK9
Are you using tap-a-talk app or mobile website on your s5? I've read that you can eat remora they are related to cobia and taste similar. But. Apparently They stink bad.

Linc
That is a rare catch around there I'd imagine. Probably a good rule os to know if something is edible or not before bringing it home for the table though
justonemorecast
Good point. The flesh looked really good to eat. Its just the smell and the slime was off putting. Plus the missus blew up and told me to get it out of the kitchen!!!

Yep, watched them "clean up" the "human waste" while on surf charters while at anchor. Caught several each time and they all went back
NaClH2OK9
Reminds me of a holiday I had in India 20 years ago. In an out of the way village in Goa. Outdoor outhouse with open drains to the ocean. You could hear the pigs snuffling round outside when you had to 'go'
