finin
Gday all, Congratulations to the BOM cause they got it wrong again. I actually wonder if they ever go outside and have a look at the sky? Wasnt it meant to be 30 or something? Nor easters? my arse. Get up, light rain and I got a southerly howling up the street WTF? Get picked up away we go not saying a word. Get to the ramp, get out, prep the boat and start laughing at each other. Yeah dont worry 30 today southerly peter out by sunrise, cloud and rain will dissipate, it will die then swing ne by the time the sunrises... Get to the heads and great more potholes than parramatta rd. Wasnt till we could see a bit of light that you could work out the swell direction. Main swell se about 1.5 across that southerly wind swell to a metre and with that leftover ne swell to half a metre, so it was like a washing machine and not a great deal of current, probably half a knot uphill. Water has gone green and has dropped to 20°. Fishing wise wasnt pleasant but worth it. Played around one of our usual marks and decided to go a little further on the inside run than usual 45m. Well wasnt the ideal drift as we started to drift nw were this drift works better ns vica versa. First hookup nice tiger and a few more followed with blue spot mixed in. Throughout the morning again dollies these ones at 20-30, smallest I had ever seen, what was interesting was their colour top half steely blue, bottom half silver with a yellow tail. Yet one came up at 35 and had all its colour so somewhere in that 5cm must be their change? Continued through and whack rod bends lovely gesture. Familiar feeling in the rod coupla minutes later comes a red the colour of a carlton draught label and just on 2kg, m8s rod buckles up he brings what I thought was an extremely light pink snapper so im wondering how that happens so I have another look and its a bloody pearly and nice at just over a kg in 45m?....Impossible, im filthy and just get laughed at. Spot gets marked straight away and now extends our grounds by a good mile added with what we already know of these grounds. Headed back up to the start and began again. Next into the boat were a few good mowies biggest hit 60 but all got thrown back with nannies, newcastle bream more dollies and a good size gurnard. We had decided that after what we had was good enough. Fish continued to bite hard much like wednesday although drift was at a knot and we went to pound sinkers. Quite a few pike around and plenty of red spot whiting as well. Fingers were getting numb so we called it. All in all a great days fishing despite the constant rain and wind and swell and no bacon and eggs. Thats about it.

Yowie
Finin, a bit harsh on the BOM, the forecast was for southerlies when I woke this morning about 6.30, must have changed it since last night Regardless, you still managed a good feed, you did well to throw back those stinky mowies. A pound sinker is a pain in the arse to retrieve though.
