cameldownunder Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hi I have a flight (Christmas present), room and boat booked to Lake Pedder, in Tasmania. Weekend trout fishing coming up in 3 weeks time. Last time I asked for reccomendation on how and where to fish, for lake Jindabyne, we ended up with a beautiful brook trout. Thaks Again. So I submit my request one more to the wealth of knowledge in this forum: What lures should I use, and how? Any known spots that are accessible from Strathgordon by boat? What techniques (Trolling, spin casting)? The rental boat has no downriggers or fishfinder. Any tip is really appreciated
W4z Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hi mate, check out my report from oct http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=75287#entry535751 Most of the fish were caught trolling. Shallow diving hard bodies around 3ft to max 6ft. Also tassie Devils trolled did well. My favorite lure of the trip was a Berkley flicker shad 4cm in rainbow trout pattern. Spinning around drop offs and structure was also good using tassies, hardbodies, spinners or plastics. I haven't been to lake pedder so it could be a bit different and its a different time of year so that might affect it too. Maximum water depth for us was about 7m. Not sure how deep lake pedder is. We had no need for downriggers. Try to get some local knowledge while your there and you should do great. Good luck!
