APEX Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Looking at picking up a boat, its unregistered and doesnt have papers it was a project that is unfinished is it possible to register once restored?? Cheers, Nick.
Geoff Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 It should be , will need to take the boat to a boat code agent but to be sure , suggest you talk or e mail to the RMS , ie the old MSB. They may require some basic information , length , construction material , power or sailetc. Assuming it is power they may want to know the motor HP Geoff
Floating_Medic Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Yep, I did the same thing when I restored my old boat. Just need to go to a registered code agent and they will install 2 HIN plates on the hull for you. One near the transom and one hidden away.
jeffb5.8 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Do you know what the old rego number were? That helped me get my Hin numbers and register my old boat.
Camo1808 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Yeah it is more than ok. I bought a jet ski from qld and registered in nsw for 1st time and needed to get boat codes and stuff but you should get a bill of sale from the old owner to prove yu didnt steal the boat. I lost mine from the orevious owner and had to fill out stat decs and stuff. Good luck!!
