Hi Raiders,

I was in Bali last week enjoying some time away with the family. I thought I'd give the fishing a go and head out on a charter.

I booked a charter and was joined by another Aussie and together we spent six hours jigging, trolling and bottom bashing for a big fat donut......very disappointed that we couldn't even get one fish on board. The charter guys worked hard for us but there was just nothing biting.

Very frustrated, I decided I'd have to have another go so I arranged another charter a couple of days later. This time it was just me and four crew, so five rods in the water jigging away madly.

We snagged a nice snapper on our second mark and brought it into the boat for a few pics and to keep for lunch. It was a nice little fight and great to see such a big fish.

This got me excited for what the remainder of the day might bring, but unfortunately this was it. We had one jig bitten off (the crew reckon it was a barracuda) and also a lure bitten off whilst trolling by something big.

So, good fun being out on the water even if the return was only one fish! The Bintang beers helped. The crew were all good and very helpful as well as keen to find me a fish. They reckon March is a better month to fish with GT's aplenty.

First time for me doing jigging and at depths between 70 and 120m and 600g jigs it was hard work! I could feel it the day after.

Back home now and looking forward to getting out again and wetting a line.

The far side of Nusa Penida in the heavy current is where the BIG GTs are and you need big gear and really big poppers

I sent your guy an email but never heard back. Hooked up with another company and on the second day they wanted to take me further out but I didn't have the time unfortunately. Next time!!

I contacted Edi via Facebook messenger but he's not read or replied. His website from Facebook also seems to no longer exist. Maybe he's shutdown?

I went out with Edi end of September so he is definitely still around - caught a fair few fish. Ruby snapper, normal snapper, few I dont know the name of and a big grouper around 30kg!
