oldsalty Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Find your nearest FAD ( fisherman attracting device ) , get there as early as u can, before the rest of Australia gets there and throw a live bait at it . Edited February 5, 2015 by oldsalty
marshie Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Oldsalty is spot on - early bird gets the worm. Many do well with a livebait down deep for bigger bull mahi mahi I've caught them in a burley trail of pilchard cubes, by drifting a pillie tail down unweighted on 20lb fluoro and a 1/0 hook
Guest no one Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Troll smaller skirts too and from the FAD... works for me.
mike2153 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I'm trying to find the bigger dollies at traps and fads etc, is it common knowledge that the bigger ones sit deeper and I should chuck a livey on the downrigger?
oldsalty Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Maybe sometimes but not always, seen big ones mixed in with small ones on top and also big loners caught in the middle of nowhere
iknow Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) what size hooks does everyone use, im very fond of the 8/0 oct hook gamatsui, how does live slimies go on them i get big kings on them so maybe Find your nearest FAD ( fish attracting device ) , get there as early as u can, before the rest of Australia gets there and throw a live bait at it . hit shellharbour fads up a few weeks ago only one boat out Edited February 5, 2015 by nbdshroom
