fragmeister Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Hi Raiders, My boat cover has been leaking and water has got into my underfloor storage. My clears are stored under the floor rolled up in a sheet and inside a canvas tent bag but water got in there and on a few spots where the water got to the clears there is a vertical line about 30mm wide that has gone a little cloudy. This is clearly where the rolls have been in contact with each other. Otherwise these clears are in perfect condition as I rarely use them but still clean them once a month. Searching the internet has turned up a simple remedy and that is to hang them in the sun and the cloud will disappear. Following this they should be cleaned and protected with Plexus. Anyone out there had any experience with this? Cheers Jim
Welster Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) We have a boat with new clears and were a bit dismayed when on holidays over a couple of days of rain they went cloudy. They were on the boat at the time and quite difficult to see through. When the sun came out over a few hours they cleared right up. It's a bit ironic the "clears" for crappy weather go cloudy in crappy weather but I guess it's the nature of the material they use. Edited February 9, 2015 by welst

fragmeister Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Update on this one. A few hours in the sun and all the cloud has disappeared. Phew! Didn't fancy having to buy new ones.... Not Cheap! Cheers Jim
batfishing Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 The guy that does my canvas, upholstery, clears etc. Also tells me Mr Sheen to clean them.........as good if not better than, and far cheaper than the dedicated cleaners Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

A can of Plexus does my clears about 6 times which is not so expensive so I have stuck with it ... I have not been willing to take the risk before but the upholstery guys all seem to think Mr Sheen does the trick.
