Day go
Hey, First post to the forum but I thought I'd show the couple of squid caught last night. Launched at little manly with the aim of finding where to catch squid in the harbour as i have not yet fished it for squid. I read a post on this site saying the nudist beach around middle head was good spot but had no luck. I then moved over to hat head out of the wind and pulled up these two around sunset Using a yamie in natural brown colour and the larger size
Gj1001
nice catch. Thank you for the pictures. I went to the same beach in Middle Harbour on Wednesday trying to get some squids before heading to Long Reef for kingies and it was nothing there too. Will try the Hat next time. Linc
Some nice green eyes there. Do you use the S factor on your squid jigs or was that just there to show size? I use it on pretty much any lure for fish or squid, it definitely increases strike rates for me.
mike2153
Good work mate! Where abouts it's hat head in sydney?
Day go
No s factor was the smallest thing on the boat to make the squid look bigger Hat head is around North head fairly prominent feature, goggle it you should find it no problem

Day go
I just noticed that inside North head is an aquatic reserve, I'm assuming old mans hat is apart of that?
mike2153
Mate I think your a bit confused on the name of spots, post up a photo of the area you were and I'll tell you the name and also if it's in the aquatic area. I'll try and find a map of the aquatic reserve. There wasn't a wharf where you were was there?
mike2153
Here's a photo of the aquatic reserve mate

Linc
Dpi says you can only take fin fish from the north harbour aquatic reserve. Does that mean squid are actually protected there?
mike2153
Yea squid are protected in the shaded area.

Krispy !
I reckon it's pretty ridiculous to have an aquatic reserve with ferrys constantly ploughing through the area turning up sediment etc that being said there are lots of squiddy looking areas in there
