krause
Hi all. Looking to take a family member fishing, but the weather is sabotaging my plans. I was looking at the Hacking, but most of the land based spots are no good in the predicted NE winds. I'm looking for a reasonably easy spot to get to as the person doesn't fish often and is not that physically able. Any help would be awesome. (No secret spots needed, just general wharfs or other know spots etc) Cheers
W4z
I would try lilli pilli wharf. Haven't fished it in strong winds but I think it would be sheltered a bit from the NE. When are you fishing? Doesn't look like any strong NE winds predicted
krause
16 knot tomorrow arvo. Not horrible but with a learner fisherman it makes the world difficult. Lilli pilli won't be that protected in a NE-NNE blow
Jimbu
Maybe somewhere around bass and flinders point might be alright
Guest 4myson
Give the swimming nets at Gunnamatta Bay a go , parking is close by & it's a short stroll to the shoreline .
krause
Ive never fished theses spots. What kind of fishing is available? Might give them a go
Jimbu
I've only fished bass and flinders point once. It's easily accessible and there are grassy sections along the shore, some quite high above the water, to fish from. I opted to fish from a rock platform closer to the mouth of the hacking, where there was a 5m+ section of shallow kelpy Rock before the bottom became sandy. I landed a good sized squid and then wasn't having much luck until I spotted some mullet in my berley trail; I switched to bread just under a float and caught a huge gar, a few decent mullet and a solid bream. There's a fair length of terrain to pick a spot from here and it should be somewhat sheltered from a NE.
krause
Cheers guys. I ended up going to lilli pilli. The winds never came, and neither did the fish. Id be keen to try bass and flinders
