Leatherjacket81 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Hi all, first post so be gentle! I'm looking at upgrading my gear and want to buy a good set up for snapper fishing on soft plastics with braid. Anybody with info or tips thanks in advance
Guest Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 20lb braid and a good 3000 to 3500 reel and 5-8 or 10kg stik and you are in business. Any good Daiwa or Shimano reel in that category will be fine and a rod over 7 ft but not longer than 8ft either daiwa or shimano Certates or Sustains and they will suit your needs or stellas if you can afford them or morethans

boattart Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 As Swordy said there are plenty of reels from Shimano and Daiwa that fit the bill depending on how much you want to spend. 15-20lb braid will do the job and then get a couple of spools of fluorocarbon leader to join to the braid as it will make a difference. Personally I started with the Shimano Symetre reels in the 4000 size and Raider rods as a budget outfit to start and they more than handle anything so far and are great fun for Mahi at the FADs too.
Jc2230 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 The Daiwa generation black rods(super caster) are a good cheapish option with a max cast weight of 28g. From memory rated 5-10kg, 7"6' and around 140 bucks. Goes well with reels mentioned above.
