Hit up the harbour today with dan flicking plastics around at birchgrove.

We arrived two hours before low tide and started flicking plastics around we got a few snags and no touches for a hour then i noticed a school of kings at my feet cruising the wall and cast a flick bait into the school and was on meanwhile dan cast into the school for a double hookup.

My fish ran me into the reef and i free spooled him too get him out which worked after playing both fish out and dancing around each other for five minutes both kings were landed wih mine going 63cms and dans 59cms both fish released after photos.

We both got another hookup each but got busted off as the tide slowed.

As the tide stopped flowing the bites stopped with a couple of tailor hits.

A few frigate mackeral bust ups started around us so i rigged a metal up on the spare rod for no luck.

When the tide started running in for about an hour i got another hookup on a bigger king which busted me off after a few minutes.

Dan missed his next kingy bite.

I hooked another king which gave me a good working over in the reef twice i free spooled him clear each time and landed him after five minutes on the brag matt went 65cms exact released after a photo.

Dan hooked up just before we were to head home this king went hard and took a good 80mtr run to open water for his first run and dan got some good line back then he went for 50 odd mtr run again then dan got the upper hand we both called it for a 80plus cm king but as he came to the surface we saw it was hooked in the tail this was about ten minutes after dan first hooked him.

We called it soon after this fish.

All fish taken on 1-3 kg rods, ten pound braid and ten pound leader.

Fish profile plastics in the 70-100 mm range used today.

All plastics worked in a standard way.

Let them hit the bottom and a couple of hops then let em sink again and repeat.
