Brendan_G Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Hey raiders, Me and my Dad are thinking about launching the boat at Narrabeen Lakes in a couple of weeks and just want some advice on bait that should be used when fishing in that area as well as the best section to fish in. Also what species are available to catch in this Lake, any advice would be much appreciated! Enjoy your weekend guys and catch some big FISHIES! Cheers Brendan?
Guest 4myson Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Peeled prawns are the way to go ,Everything eats PRAWNS !
quochuy Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Bream, blackfish, tailor, flathead, whiting and even jewfish at high tide! Blackfish and breams at the camping park. Flatheads near the channel in front of the park but virtually anywhere, jewfish play your luck. There is an article that has a map of all the good spots on the Lakes. Google for it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Razzell Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I fish lures on the lake, not sure if that will help... On high tide, the bream are on the flats. I get the most joy on the southern end of the lake fishing yabby/shrimp SPs. It's weedy, though, so be sure to use snagless jigs. You can also take them on the top in the early morning without bother. At low tide, they hit the edges where I switch to shallow divers cast in to the snags. Flat head are all over the place... I caught a 74 model up near the caravan park and have caught lots on the fringes of the flats where I fish for bream.
snatcher Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 We fly over on 07 October for a 3 month holiday and will be staying with our daughter who is only a 10 minute walk from Narabeen Lakes. It sounds like the wife and could well be fishing there a lot I lure fish for bass off the shore here in the UK on a regular basis. I find that fishing a variety of plastics behind a 20g carp controller float can be a deadly method at times. Would it work at Narabeen ? Also would lure fishing into the sea from the shore there work ? Would be great to meet up with some of you locals when we are there and wet a line together and have a beer or two John
snatcher Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 A couple of more questions have sprang to mind Is there a tackle shop in Collaroy and do they sell bait ? If bait fishing off the shore at Colleroy what is the best bait to use and what species might I expect ? Cheers John
SgtBundy Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 There is a tackle shop at manly vale and another bait/tackle place at Narrabeen - google them because I am not sure about naming places, but easy to find. Alternatives are also to go to the fish market at Dee Why and grab a mullet or something.
snatcher Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Googled Narabeen Lake and there was a lot of information on it. Some real lumps have come out of it John
