darynxbcoupe Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Hi all, I have a Simrad nss9 with a HDI 50-200 transducer, I cant seem to get it set correct as it has too much interference and only works properly at around 3 knots. Will it work better if I put it as far away from motor possible?? I have about 100mm I could move it on the plate. Cheers Daryn
Marlin01 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 A picture would be invaluable here. Just checking the basics, not aligned with a strake, transducer is below the bottom of the boat, how far is the tranny from the motor leg and prop?
darynxbcoupe Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 will get picture tomorrow, what is the strake??
darynxbcoupe Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 thanks for that, it isn't behind a strake, here is a couple photos Any suggestions?
NaClH2OK9 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 The photo angles aren't great but I'd say drop it an inch and try again. That made a huge difference to mine. Have a look over the transom whilst driving) or someone else driving) do you have clear water around the transducer? Try and change the angle by just a degree or so.
darynxbcoupe Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 So should it be totally under the hull then?
NaClH2OK9 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I'm only an amateur so many will give better advice. All the pics In the manual showed me to have it half way. And I like you lost signal at very low speed. I dropped mine so the top was level with the bottom of the hull and it made a massive difference. I don't have as big a deadrise as yours but when I looked over the transom there was white water around it even at low speed. I also found heel down by just a degree helped me. Run a straight line the length of the hull to the transducer. Start level then adjust. A little adjustment can make a big difference
darynxbcoupe Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Thanks for your advise I will lower it and test after work this week, much appreciated.
