Beware of the westerly this weekend!

Hey guys,

I know the forecast looks good for this Saturday and I know a lot of people will be going out the peak and 12 for a look but just beware it maybe nice on the way and your thinking 'this is the best weather we have had in ages' but the westerly is meant to be 15knots which coming back in 15-20kms with the wind in your face will be pretty uncomfortable and you will be getting wet.

Westerlys are more dangerous than southerlys in my opinion.

Great point mike. And keeping in mind that if it's predicted 14-17kts you have to budget that there is every chance it will be over 20kts at some point and that's a whole 'nother level again when it's westerly. Into and almost 2m southerly swell.

Yep could be over 20 knot could also be 8 knots lol you just don't know.

But with a westerly I don't want to know lol.

Problem is of your at say 12mile and then the wind picks up and you think might be time to head back in its already blowing a bloody gale closer to land and your heading right into the guts of it.

I was thinking peak Sunday but with the wind forecast now up to strong gust I'll be rethinking that one!!
