I have just received an email from the Department of Primary Industries inviting Expressions of Interest from individuals to be appointed as a member of the RFNSW. No doubt all who hold a Fishing Licence received the same email.

Individual members will be appointed from 8 regional areas including Sydney & Central Coast and Illawarra which will undoubtedly cover the greatest concentration of Anglers in NSW.

The blurb notes that "The new Advisory Council will be based around a modern representative model, ensuring the views of regional fishers from right across the State are communicated".

Essential criteria for appointment include "Significant experience in the recreational fishing sector in at least one of the eight specified regions of the state and a sound understanding of the particular issues relevant to the region"

Members will receive an annual stipend payment of $2,500.00 plus reimbursement for travel to and from meetings and any associated accommodation expenses.

This sounds like a great gig for a retired person who is prepared to spend time visiting clubs and organisations within his/her region to gather first hand information on key issues and then communicate these to the Minister via the RFNSW.

Hopefully one or more Raiders will seize the opportunity to submit an application and demonstrate that this site has many members qualified to make a contribution to the RFNSW. In addition, Admin may like to consider writing to the RFNSW expressing Fishraider's desire to be consulted by the appointed member for Sydney/Illawarra for opinions re issues of interest to Raiders.

A great opportunity to have a say in a forum that will influence decision making on issues that will undoubtedly affect the future of our favourite pastime.

Cheers

I certainly think it's a great opportunity for someone to stick their hand up! I'd imagine you'd need a lot of time on your hands though!
